Ski Alignment
Body and Ski alignment
Quality skiing is about controlling the placement of your centre of gravity on your skis.
Small foot movements planned or otherwise, have huge effects on skis. If alignment is correct,
foot movement controls skis more efficiently than inputs from legs, hips, arms or torso.
However, when the foot is poorly aligned within the boot, imprecise small movements will
require gross corrections by larger body parts resulting in the need for corrective actions
such as arm waving to maintain balance.
Correct foot alignment within your ski-boot will enable you to regulate your balance,
distribute your weight evenly and control your skis to instantly improve your skiing.
Ski alignment has been proven to be beneficial to both the beginner who wants to improve comfort
and the expert more concerned about speed and technique.
Who benefits from Ski alignment?
Anyone who would like to improve their skiing ability and/or comfort on skis.
A Foot Factor custom made orthotic will provide the mechanical support required for ideal foot alignment
within your boot, thus harmonising your anatomy with your equipment.
Make uncomfortable boots, a lack of grip within your boots, poor biomechanical alignment and posture a thing of the past!
The one-on-one 90 minute alignment appointment requires:
- Your own boots and ski socks (skis not required)
- A change of comfortable clothing or shorts (your knees must be visible)
Ski Orthoses
A Foot Factor ski orthotic will provide support to control subtalar over-pronation and align the foot
within the boot. Optimum foot alignment has positive implications for the entire kenetic chain, reducing strain on your ankles, knees, hips and lower back as you ski.
This ensures freedom of movements within all joins allowing the transmission of more power to the ski.
